This is apprise the general public, especially all Staff and Students
of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) that the immediate past Head of the
Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering in the Faculty
of Engineering, University of Lagos, Professor David Ehigie Esezobor has
been elected as the 7 th National Chairman of the Nigerian Society of
Engineers (Metallurgical, Mining & Materials Division).
The Division is the first of its kind in the history of Nigerian
Engineering. It was established under the Nigerian Society of Engineers
for the purpose of supporting the advancement of its members and
reflects the technical growing interest of its member in larger
engineering and scientific community globally as we’ll as creating forum
for sharing ideas and analysis of national problems in a view to
solving them.
Professor Esezobor was unanimously elected during the Society’s 2012
Annual General Meeting held on 3 rd of December, 2012 at the Governor’s
Banquet Hall of Kwara Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara State.
His investiture and public lecture of the Division has been scheduled
for Tuesday, February 26 , 2013 at 12: 00 noon at the Leadway Assurance
Training Centre, 10, Abebe Village Road , Rooftop, Apex Mill Building,
Thomas Wyatt by Nigerian Breweries, Iganmu, Lagos .
Born in Edo State over fifty (50) years ago, David Esezobor is a
Professor of Extractive Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. He is a
registered Metallurgical Engineer with theCouncil for Regulation of
Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and member of various Societies and
Associations such as Nigerian Society of Engineers, Materials Society of
Nigeria, American Society for Metals, Heat Treating Society,
International Metallographic Society, among others.
Professor Esezobor is a Consultant to UNILAG Consult, Epina
Technologies Ltd and Dezon Technologies Ltd (an Industrial and
Environmental, Technology Development and Promotion Group). He is an
academic cum administrator per excellence and has served the University
in several capacities.
The Don has contributed tremendously to the development of Catholic
Community. In recognition of his service and devotion, he was enlisted
among the distinguished Catholics Men’s and Women’s profiles in
thehistoric publication “Major Development, Church Directory and “Who is
Who” in the Archdiocese of Lagos (2010).
The Professor of Extractive Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
has over fifty (50) publications in reputable local and International
journals and referred conference proceedings. He is a reviewer to
various local and International journals.
The academic scholar is a recipient of many prizes and scholarships
including the Distinguished Researcher Award for Facultyof Engineering,
2008 and International Scientist of the Year in 2005. His profile is
recognized and published in the 8 th edition of “World Who‘s Who in
Science and Engineering” , (2005).
Professor Esezobor is happily married to Pharm. (Mrs) Celestina Akudo David Esezobor and blessed with children.
